Trenton slammed his thumb in the car door and pulled it out before the door could be opened! OUCH!!!! It kept swelling so we went to get an x-ray. Trenton told him, "My thumb feels like there is a band-aid on it tied in a knot really tight." The doctor confirmed the top of his thumb was fractured and go ahead and call this broken bone #1. Great! I figured it would happen, but not SO soon. He advised to be as careful as a four year old boy could be and just let it heal itself. He decided against splinting it because it probably wouldn't remain in place. SO we are waiting for it to get better. It has gotten a lot worse before it is getting better! Now he says his thumb just "feels like iron."
